St. Nicholas Church
(Nikolaevskaya)
Chernovtsy, Ukraine

This St. Nicholas church is located in the capital city of the Chernovtsy Oblast. The city is on the upper Prut River in the Carpathian foothills. Although not very old by Ukrainian standards - the church was built in 1939 - it's twisted domes make it very distinctive.
It actually has the nick name, The Drunk Church, something which I think might greatly amuse St. Nicholas!
Built in Neorominesc style it is definitely one of the more interesting St. Nicholas churches.
Very cooling and welcoming with its white and blue color against the backdrop of the beautiful Ukrainian sky.
On this hot July day the snow is very refreshing too.

it is quite beautiful! the domes look differnt from each angle , sometimes leaning
Fascinating post about the drunk Church my friend.
Why are they twisted like that? Does it have something to do with snow? I find it interesting that it was built after the Communist rule, yes?
that is a beautiful church. Those twisted domes are fascinating. At first I thought I was imagining it then I read the text.
Hi Anne,
Wonderful church and I like the blue domes with the white and against the blue sky and clouds.
Happy week

Dear Ann

I love those blue domes on so many of these churches. Also not to be picky but am astonished that a church could have been built in 1939 during the Stalin era.
something about the white and blue together makes it very crisp and lovely, truly inviting. not "drunk at all in my humble opinion! :) hope you are well. xo
What a unique church! Love the architecture and the color of the domes! Hope all is well with Edward!
it does exude a calm and it stands so stately in its location too. really beautiful! i hope all is well with you Ann! XX

ANN DEAREST!!!
Oh you sweet person, you....you came to see me? These are busy summer days for everyone and I thank you for taking the time to visit with me. You are right, I was waiting for the right SPARKLING MOMENT to use that quote that GOD ENABLES THE CALLED.....and I am going through a THING with my writing at the moment. I feel called, and certainly UNABLE....but so afraid to swim. If I would only swim, I NOW HE WOULD ENABLE ME...but for some strange reason, I am afraid this week to post anything! I am afraid of loosing my followers. I am afraid of posting a dud!!!!!! I may need a break? Either way, I want to thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!
Anita
YOU are so kind to come and encourage me....I am not sure...the feeling I have is to take a break, but something keeps tugging at me! THANK YOU ANN FOR YOUR KINDNESS!!!! Anita
Hi Ms. Ann, Madi here please tell that handsome Edward I said hello.
Mom likes the domes and all the different levels of each. She said the twisted vertical pieces on each dome give it a very interesting look,
