The Kirk of St. Nicholas Uniting

This beautiful church is dedicated to St. Nicholas because of its close proximity to the sea and the miraculous rescue of sailors in a storm. It's foundations date from the 12th century. It was one of the most important churches in Scotland and after 850 years it is still a welcoming house of worship. Today it is called "Church of St. Nicholas Uniting" because it unites the Church of Scotland and United Reformed Church.

Edinburgh is a lovely city too. Unfortunately, their St Nicholas Church isn't as impressive as the one in Aberdeen.

I love Scotland, we lived near Glasgow for over two years when my eldest daughter was small. Aberdeen was very busy back then with the 'oil-workers'. I wish I had visited this beautiful church, the tower and spire combined look wonderful.
