St. Nicholas Churches Around the World - Aegina, Greece

Agios Nikolaos Church

And... since I seem to want to think about a Grecian holiday...Here is the beautiful little port side chapel of St. Nicholas on the lovely Saronic Gulf island of Aegina. It is located very close to Athens. It is a beautiful island get-a-way for weary city dwellers who need to escape to the charms that a Greek island feeds the soul so well!

Where the soul is really fed! So simple and sweet. A quiet haven of charm and peace.

THAT IS THE CUTEST LITTLE CHURCH I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! And Ann, it is so lovely to see you again! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT. I love what you said, "Don't give up one strike too soon." Could you imagine the tragedy of doing so? No harm in plugging away. I think Einstein said, "Failure is when you give up." WWOOOW!!!

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND DEAR ANN! Anita

Sometimes they ring the bells for tides. I went to one in Lericci, Italy that had a channel in the belfry to note the tides coming and going.

Charming I'd say. It also all about location. I need to see those Greek islands one by one some day. Well yes I know there are lots of them. :)

What a pretty little church available at the sea side for travelers and seafarers alike. It reminds me of the Norwegian Seaman's Churches that are found in ports around the world. We continue to receive cards and small gifts on Christmas from the Norwegian Seaman's Church while we are at sea even though we no longer have a Norwegian Flag on our ships. It is heart warming to know that someone cares about the people working at sea.

We can stop into the Norwegian Seaman's churches while in port and always find a cup of coffee, books to read, Norwegian snacks, and someone with whom to talk for awhile before we set sail again.

While we were in Santos, Brazil, the pastor of the Norwegian Seaman's church personally took my husband and me on a car tour of the city. My images of that day are here if you care to see them: http://www.evensens.us/santos/santos.html

Big Sunday hugs from Port Canaveral, Florida,
Lois
