And... since I seem to want to think about a Grecian holiday...Here is the beautiful little port side chapel of St. Nicholas on the lovely Saronic Gulf island of Aegina. It is located very close to Athens. It is a beautiful island get-a-way for weary city dwellers who need to escape to the charms that a Greek island feeds the soul so well!

Sometimes they ring the bells for tides. I went to one in Lericci, Italy that had a channel in the belfry to note the tides coming and going.

What a pretty little church available at the sea side for travelers and seafarers alike. It reminds me of the Norwegian Seaman's Churches that are found in ports around the world. We continue to receive cards and small gifts on Christmas from the Norwegian Seaman's Church while we are at sea even though we no longer have a Norwegian Flag on our ships. It is heart warming to know that someone cares about the people working at sea.
We can stop into the Norwegian Seaman's churches while in port and always find a cup of coffee, books to read, Norwegian snacks, and someone with whom to talk for awhile before we set sail again.
