St. Nicholas Churches Around the World - South Ockendon, UK

St. Nicholas Church

This 12th century, St. Nicholas Church, is located in South Ockendon, Essex. It was brought to my attention by the immensely talented artist, Pat Elliott. She painted this historic church and has kindly allowed me to show her beautiful painting here. Pat paints practically everything! Travel on over to her website or blog to see more of her beautiful work. I love all of her paintings (and needless to say, especially this church!) but those she paints of dogs are especially lovely - she has a way of capturing the purity and love that shines out of our furry friend's eyes. Wilbur reminds me so much of my German Shepherds...Those gorgeous, loving, giving and super intelligent eyes... Such a handsome fellow!

For a detailed history please go to British History Online and click "Church."

Many thanks Pat for the use of these gorgeous paintings!

(If anyone has a favorite church that was named in St. Nicholas's honor please let me know. I would love to include it here in this section on St. Nicholas Churches Around the World!)

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I hope you enjoyed your visits to my blog and gallery site.
I only paint what I love - and our St Nicholas is a beautiful church, which goes back many centuries.
I'm honoured Ann should want to share my paintings. Thanks, Ann xx

Pat's work is wonderful, as is her personality! Hi Pat!
So I popped over here to read your posts about St. Nicholas. In fact, my church has an icon of the saint which miraculously teared myrrh about 3 years ago. He is a very special saint in the Greek Orthodox church. Good luck with your blog!
